Community Service 2023-2024

November found us organizing our first community service of the new school year.  In association with One Dublin, we collected gently used winter coats of all sizes.  Our parents cleaned out their closets and donated outerwear for all ages. The collection was overwhelming and as usual, the generosity of our families was over the top!  It is a good feeling to know that someone (many someones!) had a warm coat for the cold winter months.
Thank you…Dublin Montessori Families for your kindness!

In December, our foyer was once again overflowing with canned goods and non-perishable food items for St. Stephen’s Community Center.  This has been a tradition for our school since 1991.  The donations help fill Christmas food baskets for distribution in the Columbus area. St. Stephens is always so appreciated and amazed at the quantity of the items donated and at the support and giving spirit of our families.  It is such a warm feeling to know that others are receiving food through your generosity.  Our children learn through awareness and participation that they are helping feed those families less fortunate than their own.  It is such a tangible learning experience when they bring in a food item to add to the collection.  Once again, thank you DMA families for your generosity in helping to fill the baskets.

January 2024 found us partnering with Dublin Coffman High School helping to collect books for the African Library Project which is supporting a primary school in building its library in Malawi, Africa.  The goal of Dublin Coffman was to collect 1000 books appropriate for Pre-K- thru Grade 4.  This effort was very near and dear to our hearts as the librarian at Dublin Coffman is a previous parent of ours,  and Simon Groves, a junior at Dublin Coffman and a  DMA graduate, was the liaison and the connection between the two schools.  Our families contributed 714 books plus monetary donations to help with shipping costs of mailing the books to ALP’s New Orleans Warehouse and then onto Malawi via a four-month journey on a cargo ship. Outstanding, outstanding, outstanding!!!  We plan to participate in this community service next year, so please hold onto those gently used books!  We have a place for you to donate them to a wonderful, worthwhile cause and put them in the hands of those who have none.
A million thanks to all our generous, giving, and caring families who supported this unbelievable project.
